The main purpose for a tourist coming to Etosha National
Park is no doubt looking for wild animals inside. The origin
of Etosha conservation area can be traced back to the initial
stage of 19th century, precisely speaking, it's in 1907 when
Namibia was under the protectorate by Germany. This Park covers
an region over than 22,000 square kilometers and there are
an estimated number of 250 lions, 300 rihnos, 2500 giraffes,
2000 elephants, 6000 zebras and other animals that we can
hardly speak out their names without a wild animal dictionary.
For the reason above, and some friends were perplexed with
the essays I composed in English, I've to make some alteration
on it. A novel I read these days called "A Concise Chinese-
English Dictionary for Lovers" sparks me a notion- how about
compose a article about the animals I saw there bilingually!
Now lets follow the photos I took and read the explication
beneath each picture.
Spingbok- , a small deer that can run fast and lives in South Africa.
跳羚，一種速度快、居住在南非洲的小隻的鹿。
The dainty springbok are especially numerous and you can
see them in every corner of Etosha Park. When our safari
into the third day, all of us felt tirsome to see them.
Gemsbok- , a large and strikingly marked oryx (Oryx gazella)
formerly abundant in southern Africa.
(南非產)大羚羊，一種大型具有明顯標記(臉部黑條文與頭上筆直黑角)的羚羊!
I've check the "Longman On-Line Dictionary", "Cambridge
Dictionary On-Line" for this word but no result; however,
you can find it in the "Merriam-Webster's Dictionary
on-line" and Wikipedia too.
Kudu- , a large grayish brown African antelope
(Tragelaphus strepsiceros) with large annulated
spirally twisted horns.
有斑紋的大羚羊，一種大型身體呈灰色生長在非洲的羚羊，其特徵為擁有
相當大、螺旋形旋轉而上的羊角!
Only shows up in "Webster's" too.
One night in Etosha, kudu is a dish in my supper,
it's luscious also.
Red hartebeest- , large African antelopes with long
faces and short annulate divergent horns.
紅色大羚羊，大型非洲羚羊，以長型臉與短而分歧具有環紋的角為特色。
Damara dik-dik- , Any of four species of delicate African
antelope (genus Madoqua), named for the
sound it makes when alarmed. It stands 12–16 in.
(30–40 cm) high at the shoulder and weighs 7–11
lbs (3–5 kg).
Damara dik-dik，SORRY沒有中文翻譯，他其實就是一種很嬌小的非洲羚羊，
其名源自於遇到警戒狀況時的叫聲；身長約30~40公分，重約3~5公斤。

Impala- , a large brownish antelope of southeastern
Africa that in the male has slender curved
horns with ridges.
黑斑羚，一種原產於非洲東南部身成褐色的羚羊，公羊具有細長彎曲且有
凸起紋路的角。

To write a bilingual dictionary-like form article is not
a good idea! I've to check out many on-line dictionary
for each Godamn animal's definition. So i decided to just
stop here today after introducing the antelope group.
By the way, I have to say that "Webster's" is the best
on-line dictionary when you want to check these "Greek"!
